Exploration of Conceptual Design

I designed a large number of concept designs attempting to explore different types of forms and creatures. I wanted to be able to roughly sketch out the ideas I was inspired to create.







I went through my concept designs, and chose ten that I believed to be the strongest. I then illustrated those designs using traditional 2D methods.










I again narrowed my concepts down to five, this time using Adobe Photoshop to render each out in color. During my project I wanted to incorporate both traditional and non-traditional design techniques.





To further my designs, I chose three to scuplt digitally using ZBrush. I wanted to be able to realize my ideas in a 3D world.

For my graduate project I chose to explore the different aspects of conceptual design. I wanted to show the entire process of concept design from the beginning stages of rough sketches, to further realizing a number of selected designs traditionally, and then digitally. After digitally sculpting the final designs, I chose one design to traditionally sculpt and finish.
